Executive Consultant II

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Strategically sell and deliver Forum's Learning capability.   Build and maintain executive level client relationships.  Work with EVP to develop strategy to increase market awareness and market share.  Partner with Sales Director to identify, advance, and close new business opportunities.  Be an active and proactive member of region executive team.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy Development

·         Network with organizations which offer complimentary products and services and who serve similar target markets.

 

Market Development

·         Advance Forum thinking in our content areas by working closely with capability leaders to advance Forum's offerings including writing point of view papers, participating in community of practice, and consulting on new product development.

·         Educate Forum staff on Forum's capabilities. Inform marketing activities and sales strategies of Client Directors to maximize potential business.

 

Business Development

·         Provide direction to Client Directors and Consultants on Forum's point of view on various capability areas.

·         Provide expert support and advice to Client Directors in the development of major opportunities/presentations/proposals, including both substantive and financial aspects.  Create presentations and proposals as necessary.

·         Generate business by helping to identify, qualify, price and close new business.

·         Build and maintain executive level relationships.

 

Client Work

·         Provide advice and coaching to region management team and Forum project team members on projects.

·         Conduct executive level planning and alignment sessions; provide executive level coaching.

·         Ensure that quality of delivery meets Forum's standards, and meets or exceeds client expectations.

·         Conceive of and design a full range of learning solutions/initiatives including highly complex, multi-stream engagements.

·         Facilitate executive level sessions, pilots of highly customized solutions, business development trial deliveries, and other demanding deliveries/sessions.

·         Create and improve best practices for content integration and product development. 

·         Maintain billable hours at 40%.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Primary relationships are with clients.  Other major influence relationships are with CEO, Sales Director, Engagement Director, all levels of Consultants, all levels of Client Directors, and Marketing.

 

Job Experience:        

10-15 years of increasingly senior experience in designing, managing and participating in large, complex learning projects.  Accomplished  in selling professional services to senior executives. Significant consulting experience with large organizations.  Business management experience an advantage.

 

Education:                  

MBA degree, MA Instructional Design or Technology or Organizational Development

           

            Technical Skills:        

Research design, data gathering, analysis and feedback skills; design of training systems, products, protocols and events; materials development, with very strong writing skills including cases, non-print development a plus; participant content teaching, small and large group facilitation, presentation.  Expertise in some combination of customer focus, sales productivity, innovation, management development/leadership, organization effectiveness/corporate culture.  Significant knowledge of business/economic environment, industry trends and issues.  Strong project management and financial skills.  Computer skills - word processing (Word), financial spreadsheets (Excel), and project planning (a.k.a. Microsoft Project) software packages

 

Selling Skills:             

Accomplished sales professional with a history of selling professional services ($1M+Projects) to Fortune 500.  Executive level presence.

 

Managerial Skills:     

Coach and develop project leaders and project teams. Manage team of consultants and senior consultants. Strong influence skills; budget development/management skills.

 

Professional Skills:    

Executive presence; perceptive; observant; intuitive; independent. Exceptional listening and communication skills.  Very strong initiative and follow through.  Strong team player; leadership skills.

 

Travel Requirements:           

50-70%
